I alwys read the Trackheads taking about "scale effect" in painting vehicles.Adding
10% white for 35th scale vehicles and so on.Does that effect clothing on figs?

Just wondering

Jay ;)

Being model builder of many years, the scale effect thing has been around a long time.

The theory goes that a small object should be painted "more pale" than the full sized object. The idea is that you are adding a little "atmospheric" color to the base paint to account for "scale viewing distance. Well, if that is so, it should be done with a pale blue rather than white.

Whatever. I think this is a fairly bogus argument.

Let's put it this way, would you deliberately want to remove part of the "life" out of the colors you use on your figures or models?

Only you can answer this question. But I know my answer is that it is all just a bunch of fussy (fuzzy) thinking that in the end makes your models look less "lively" than they would otherwise.

Why would you want to do that? I know I wouldn't.........

I tend to agree with Mike. I would actually think the smaller the subject the MORE you would want to exagerate the highlight and shadows in order to almost over emphasize them. Think about these guys doing the miniatures and the fact that their scales tend to be much smaller than historical figures. To my eye the best minis are the ones with the most contrast in the highligh/shadow department. M2C,
