Hello my friends,
Some good news for the WWI fans but also for the Diorama and Figure Modellers! The Scale Modelling Manual Vol.11 Is now on the market.
Scale Modelling Manual Vol.11 is the latest addition to our popular SCALE MODELLING MANUAL VOLUMES, specifically VOLUME 11. In this edition, we delve deep into painting and general modelling techniques, offering detailed information accompanied by high-quality photos and comprehensive texts. With 32 pages packed with 105 pictures, this volume stands out by showcasing a detailed WWI 'Diorama in Detail', enriched with historical insights and intriguing data. Witness artist Roman Novikov-Okhonskiy's expert touch as he transforms a basic diorama kit into a masterpiece, complete with additional features, accessories, and a scratch-built figure. Although lacking step-by-step photos due to its custom-made nature, this super diorama, created in collaboration with Attica Miniatures, is a true master class in modelling. Dive into the world of intricate scale modelling with Scale Modelling Manual Vol.11!

We added a lot of interesting information for the first ever British tank used in battle, the Mark I, its historical data, and some camouflage painting guides with AK-Interactive and Andrea paints. Details on the construction and assembly Instructions for the Super Diorama Kit S3-S04, with texts and photos kindly supplied by Andrea Miniatures on ‘How to Work with Resin Kits and Metal Parts’, the Assembly - Painting Process - Step-by-Step Instructions.
‘How to Prepare and Assemble Metal Figures’, once again with photos kindly supplied by Andrea Miniatures, plus ‘How to Paint the Terrain’, ‘How to Paint and Weather the Mark I Tank’ and ‘Preparing a Figure for Painting’.

In total this book has 105 high quality photos, 82 of which are step-by-step or in-progress sequences, with a very detailed text, so the reader can easily follow the whole procedure in detail from start to finish. The author has included all the sets, materials, accessories, and paint codes he used so the reader can easily identify them.

Thanks, must go to the following: Attica Miniatures (Ivan Novik) and the artist Roman Novikov-Okhonskiy, Andrea Miniatures (Alejandra Fernandez), Yannis Papadopoulos and our English Text Editor Ken Jones.

CONTENTS

4 Tank Battles on the Western Front, 1916.
“Greetings to all fellow modellers! I would like to share some details of my work with you on a small diorama I’ve entitled ‘Tank Battle’. The diorama depicts one of the incidents that happened on the Western Front during the First World War in 1916. Sculpted in 1/32nd scale Andrea Miniatures has captured an emotive scene in their super set of resin diorama base and figures - Andrea Miniatures (S3-S04), ICM - 54mm (1/32nd scale)”.

9 Camouflage of the First British Tanks in WWI by the Mr Black Team.
Tank camouflage is a constantly changing art, depending on landscape, climate and season, amongst other issues.

10 Interior painting of the tank along with some other interesting information, using Andrea Miniatures Paints for the Mark I ‘four-tone camouflage’.

12 Historical Background and Interesting Data.
The Battle of the Somme commenced with a vast British attack on 1st July 1916. On the first day of that battle, the bloodiest in the history of the British Army, there were over 57,000 British casualties.

16 Interesting Data for “Fray Bentos” and More.
Even if “Fray Bentos” was a Mark IV and Andrea Miniatures’ kit is a Mark I, definitely the sculptors/artists have been inspired by the famous incident at the Battle of Passchendaele on 1917. Andrea Miniatures has captured an emotive scene in their super set of the resin diorama base, with the Mark I tank and figures to accompany them. Sculpted in 1/32nd scale this set really does remind us of the German infantry attacking the British Mark IV tank named after “Fray Bentos”, a popular British brand of tinned ‘corned beef’ meat, but as already mentioned, “Fray Bentos” was a Mark IV Tank, and not a Mark I.

18 Details on the Construction-Assembly Instructions for the Super Diorama Kit S3-S04 (with text and photos kindly supplied by Andrea Miniatures).

Yes Marc,
Thank you for your comment.
The book has a lot of information and historical data that will cover a lot of WWI things on British tanks (also for the interior painting...) and for the first Operation in WWI. We included a lot of details in Camouflage painting using AK-Interactive and Andrea Paints. A figure painting guide with all the basic mixes has been included for German Infantry and British Crew. And a very useful guide on How to Work with Metal figures has been added at the 3 last pages. More information at Mr Black Publications Website and soon from all favorite dealers and shop.
