There are certainly good ideas from others ..that's what PF is all about , sharing and hopefully giving me more confidence with the magic world of putty..lol

Today is the day for the basket work ..after I have carved the actual handle !

Thanks for looking in and Happy New Year

When I did GSM Mott's sword I carved plasticard for the hilt. You'll need a sharp scalpel withj No 11 & 15 blades.

Good luck,

The bit you've done is ok, in line with the blade. You just need to extend it back (wrist protection) looking good pal.
Happy new year by the way,
Scotty.

Couple of update pics ...not best again !

Cheers Scotty ... I found that plate details in one of my books about an hour ago ! ..happy new year to you as well

Now looking for the actual sword belt/scabbard holder

Also noticed can not see a hilt tassel in the picture ..thoughts anyone ?

Kevin, look at my Facebook page. There is a larger pic of this figure and I am sure the sword is simpler.

Hi Tom

Good to hear from you , I agree it is a simpler sword basket ..but after over 7 hours patience !! it's now as the pictures above ..or at least very similar .

Might do another simpler version after I finish the course of Valium !

I will do a painting thread on this , I only used the picture as a guide ..maybe others in the band had different swords or maybe a family hand me down ?

Still got to sort out the cords for the bugle which will be hanging down on his right side...

And also confirm the drummers lace pattern !

Thanks for looking in and hapoy new year

Update

"Just" the underside details, forward quillons and wrist guard, pommel , maybe put a tassel on ? , fit the sword blade ready to fit to the frog itself which needs to be cleaned up

Hi Guys,

Final pictures with scabbard strapping in place set ready to fit to actual belt when ready after painting separately .j

Only going to have the hilt on with just a bugle cord running to the opposite edge as I felt both was too much .

Keeping the basket version I sculpted rather than a simpler version .

Thanks for all help/ advice etc all appreciated and I learnt a lot
