Yeah a glutton for punishment, only hardly any gold compared to the last one.

This actually started alongside the Dutch Gardes fella and was going to be another Napoleonic figure, luckily I came to my senses.

I have already done a fair but of work, gaiters and trousers, today I added the bottom of the tunic using Eppis method but using thin plasticard, so it is somewhat experimental. The head is from Figure in Italy and the kepi was kindly supplied by RJ in an exchange of bits and bobs.

He is based on an image I found on Pintrest.

We will see how this works or doesn't together, no pressure then!

Hi Simon,
How do you find this way of sculpting? And what about the PC strips instead of paper? I tried sometimes ago but I did find them too stiff to manipulate ...
Eager to see how It goes further!
Cheers!

So far so good, I intend to build the putty up over the plastic to give folds and creases but with a relatively thick guide. I recently read an article about how Sid Horton of Chota Sahib used to do it which made me think of the plastic. I will still use paper for trouser stripes, pockets and insignia, but like I said it's a little experimental at the moment, it may all go horribly wrong.

Also I used the Kneadatite Brown Stuff for the gaiters and trousers, I think in future I will use it for edges or items that need Sharpe creases. It is very stiff but holds its shape very well, more experimentation.

Keep those fingers working mate.

Cheers Simon

Malc, many thanks mate I shall do my best to entertain, though like I said to Eppi I am experimenting a bit with this so it many come crashing down around my ears!

Kev, you forgot the bacon rolls mate, 95% of the reason I attend!! Thanks for the pictures, have a look at my Pintrest account, I collect reference pictures like a child in a toy shop and would love to do them all but I don't think Methusala (is that spelt right?) lived long enough for that!

Cheers Simon

An interesting project, you are indeed a glutton for punishment!

How very dare you! You can't beat Napoleonic......:)

Nigel, as much as I love the Napoleonic uniforms I much prefer the later ones, anyway a few years back I got rid of all my Napoleonic Osprey books so I no longer have the reference material I need!

Cheers Simon

Don't worry Kev you'll get over it, mind you it's the piss taking I look forward to, especially as I'll bring Dunstan along.

Cheers Simon

Another interesting subject, Simon. I'm sure you will do it justice.
I love the Zouave drum major with the crazy hat and loon pants, magnificent.
Melanie

Cheers Melanie, I shall do my best. I have a whole raft of zouave subjects I want to do, it's just fitting everything in that is hard work!

Cheers Simon
