Brad, I used Scarlet Lake Red oils, straight over a Humbrol Matt 60 base. I then added some sap green to it for the darker tones. The humbrol red was then drybrushed just on the edges for the highlights. A dark red and black pastel chalks were then added to just the extreme darker areas. Hope this helps, but yes, Reds are a very hard colour to get right. Same as yellow.
Zlobov, it was very nice to get your comment on this kit. It is an honour to paint one of your kits and I'm looking forward to seeing what your talented hands come out with next.

Ben - Thanks. I do use acrylics, but usually can adapt oil mixes for similar results. I appreciate the info.
