Have a great weekend, guys.
I know it'll be a terrific show because we've seen some brilliant work from you fellas this year.
Good luck to everyone involved this weekend...........and be sure to get heaps of pix for the rest of us.

Hi guys,

First report from WASMEx today, and it's great news for Ben Flood (figurelover) who has taken out the major prize of Best of Show for his magnificent Chinese Mounted General.

Not surprisingly, Planet Figure members dominated the figure categories at WASMEx this year.

In the Small scale figure category, Peter Carr (reddo) came first with a great English Archer from the 100 Years War, I came second with Centurion Lucius Vorenus.

Peter also won the Busts category with a wonderful Spartan Warrior from Pegaso.

Ben's Mounted Chinese General won the large scale figure category, with my Athenian Mercenary coming second and Peter Carr's Boudicca (with the awesome decaled tartan pattern) coming third,

In the sci fi/ fantasy figure category, I came first with Boromir, Ben Flood came second with his awesome Rancor and a special mention to Scott Murray (khogor) for his very worthy Highly Commended for the two anime girls.

Hopefully Ben will post some photos soon of the best figures on display.

WASMEx has been made even more enjoyable this year with Australian figure manufacturer and retailer Firestorm sending over loads of great figure kits for us to drool over. My wallet was emptied out in less than 20 minutes and I'm going back for more tomorrow.

OK, here we go with some photos from the show. Some great work all round.

Thanks for uploading the photos, Ben. Congratulations to both you and Tony for picking up so many gongs, well deserved and great work as always! It was a really enjoyable weekend.

The new Firestorm Models stall also seemed to be a great success and caused many of us figure modellers (with special mention going to Tony) to part with lots of our hard earned cash.
Lets hope that they'll consider returning next year with even more stock to tempt us!

Congratulations to all WASMEx participants, and well done to all the category winners.
Thanks for posting the pics, Ben. An impressive display of figures, and congrats for your best of show award.
The moment I saw your Pegaso Guang You, Chinese general I knew it was a BOS piece.
Also congrats to Tony, Peter and Scott for their well executed pieces, and indeed to everyone involved, sounds like a good weekend.

Back at work this morning after a tiring but very enjoyable weekend at WASMEx.

Fantastic competition with plenty of excellent figures on display. Great to finally meet Peter Carr (reddo) in person and see the quality of his painting up close and in the flesh.

Great to see Ben win his first WASMEx B.O.S. for Guan Yu. Thoroughly deserved award and great recognition for many, many hours of patient attention to detail. I have no doubt this wont be his last BOS. You've raised the bar for us all mate.

Yes Nick, the ranks of my Grey Army were swollen with new recruits over the weekend thanks to David Hay from Firestorm, with many new recruits from Pegaso, Andrea, Alexandros Models and Romeo.

Looking forward to next years show already.

Thanks Mark, Tony and Nick, for your comments. For a rather small community, I think we have some great figure modellers and modellers in general. It was great to see some of the pieces that are featured here up close and personal. Now, what can I find in the grey army for next year?????????

Ben
