Hi guys,

Some progress pics of what should have been a "quick" project! This started life as Miniart's French Guardsman and was going to be hastily assembled and painted, as a diversion. However, as these things tend to do, I got carried away by adding extra details, modifying bits and bobs, etc. Additions to the kit are fairly obvious from the photos, still a lot to do, though! He will be armed with a spontoon, which will be scratchbuilt. Tunic will be purple, with white lacework, pale grey hat, purple breeches, light blue sash, or at least thats the plan!

He is intended to portray a sergeant of Bagot's Regt, raised at Blithfield Hall, nr Lichfield, Staffs, ECW period.

Hope you like it so far!

That's cool Steve!
I really like figures from the ECW But sadly they don't seem to sell all that well.
It will be colourful when finished Dude!
Cheers
Pete

The lacework on the tunic and the sleeves was done with Evergreen plastic strip and rod - I just glued it on with liquid cement.
Hope this helps!
Pete, I know what you mean about ECW figs! Maybe an acquired taste!

Howdy Podna. . . Whoa, Nellie, Steve. . . this is going to
be just super. I also have this MiniArt figure and did one
of their others in the same 1:16th genré, the Netherlands
Musketeer. some time back. I only mention this for one reason.
You didn't mention all the work you had to do on the two
halves of each leg and the torso, etc. The fit for these MiniArt
figures is very poor and a great deal of sanding, filing, putty
work has to be done to get the figure to the point where you
posted these very nice images. (yes, these MiniArt figures are
not expensive, styrene plastic.) You are to be commended for
your talent for sure, and also for your patience. Whew. . .
Steve, I will follow your WIP and SBS (hopefully, you'll
find time to do that for the Planeteer novices like me!)
future threads with a great deal of interest. Of course, to
me the real "special" thing about this project is that you'll
have the only one that is just like that. Great! (y)

Wonderful conversion Steve, like him a lot. He's come a very long way from a French Guardsman. Looking forward to see what you do next. Lovely!

Very nice!
I love the natural standing pose with a great balance.

Look forward to seeing the weapons and more from this WIP

Thanks for sharing

Many thanks for taking the time to post the positives, guys! A bit of a labour of love, to say the least!
I am working on the (skeletal!) kit hands, at the moment. They are reasonably proportioned, but very thin in section. I have decided to add gauntlets so will post pics when completed. This entails adding a thin layer of Miliput onto the hands and fingers, but will have to be done in sections, as the plastic is pretty flimsy. The right thumb is in an odd position, so that will need altering. Cuffs to be added later.
The kit "hair" looks a little odd too, so that will also be replaced by Miliput, in due course.
I am also in two minds as to whether to add decorative lace to the collar from fuse wire - might have to have a practise that one first....!
