I just finished this great Series 77 kit of a cavalry captain from 1876. He was painted with artist's oils over enamels. I couldn't help but paint him like in the old cavalry movies. I added the goatee. I thought it gave him a a little character.

Great painting on that Terry, I love the little bit of conversion work. These kits are of such high quality. The parts fit together perfectly and there is very little clean up required. I have all the 90mm Civil War kits plus about 30 others that I have collected over the years. I have now built, primed and base coated several of them thanks to Ken Boyle's inspiration. I posted this here before, but I did finish Grant a few years ago. I've got to get going on the others!

Len great darks on that boy, sounds like a nice collection of Series 77, I had a soft spot for them as well although some of them looked a little heavy handed and perhaps big headed to coin some phrases but there was a certain appeal with them, I have around 10 in my grey army and I don't think that I will ever get into painting them and that's why it's really satisfying to see someone else painting them and posting them on PF so keep them coming and if you have a Franz Doring in your stash that you dont want give me a shout lol.

Len K, Great job on the Series 77 American!(y) Like the way it came together. I too painted many of these American Figures. Pat Bird did an excellent job
of creating kits that went together well and painted up nicely. Still think Series 77 made a very positive impression on many a figure painter and still does. I painted the Western Sheriff last year. 2nd time I painted the figure and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing your work!
