I am looking for early Series 77 figures. I have most of the 90 mm American and Classic Series. I also have the three 154mm figures. I am in need of some of the Stages figures, which are 77mm. I am most interested in the earlier Series 77 figures, slightly smaller than 77mm. Would like to find any figures playing band instruments. I am only intersted in original figures, and don't want anything modified, or parts added that are not Series 77.
In the early 70s Series 77 produced some armor, and ancient weapons. Thepurpose was to allow the hobbyist to build an armory--with crossbows, halbreds, armor, etc. Looking for any of that.
They also made some whimsical figures, that they named Wimsies---and these were rodents, dressed up as British seaman or soldiers. The were named figures, named after friends of Pat Bird I assume.
Lastly--Series 77 made four different Greek chariots. I have two of them but need the other two. . I don't have a lot of time to be on this site, so if you want to get in touch with me, please email me at [email protected]. I am doing research into the Series 77 trying to find out what productes they made. I do have a 1980 catalog, from when I first started to paint their figures--so I am very familiar with the later figures. However, Series 77 started off in England in around 1970-71---came to California around 1975-76. In the early years they were making smaller and cruder figures, but they were very nice for back then. When they decided to move to the US, they apparently decided not only to move to the US, but to change the size of the figures. So they increased the size of their figures---but they also decided to drop many figures from their line---assuming that many of the figures would not sell as well in the US as in Europe. I would love to communicate with anyone in the UK who was around in the early 70s, who may have a catalog, and who might be willing to share their knowledge. Thank you for your attention and thanks in advance for anyone contacting me. George Reese Jr.
