Hello Tony and thank you for the welcome and your kind words.:)

I paint with oils, using mainly Humbrol enamels (and less often, acrylics) as primer under colors. The eagle is painted with printer’s ink.

Kind Regards

Paris

What a debut Paris. Welcome to PF.
Carl.

I sure hope you post the finished figure as I think he will look great. Very nice start and I hope to see more.

Thank you all for the warm welcome and your positive remarks:D. I will post new photos as work progresses.

Marc … Yes!!!… in a World of acrylic painting (with MAGNIFICENT results for most modelers), I totally remain an “oilman”(y).

Regards.

Thank you very much for your positive remarks on my progress so far. :)

As for the printers ink, in my opinion it is the best choice available. It has absolutely no grain and it can be easily mixed with oil colors or enamels. In my case, I didn't use any dark shadow mixes. I primed with Humbrol 1, them painted with gold printers ink. Next was the use of successive washes made of Tamiya Smoke Gray diluted with Tamiya thinner in a ratio of about 1:2. After 2 or 3 washes I returned to highlight with a mix of the base gold printers ink plus some Tiranti extra fine gold powder, which gives the final extra highlights. All these were finally sealed by a Smoke Grey wash. Do try it in the future. It is fairly easy.(y)

Dear Friends
Here are some photos of my progress on my Aquilifer. The cape is obviously still on its gray primer. I have put it in place without glue, in order to make a choice on its color. My first thoughts are to try painting it either very dark ochre or very light indigo. Your thoughts would be very useful to me. Hope you like it so far.
Regards
Paris

Beautiful work all around but the eyes are amazing. To get detail like that on the eyes of a 54mm figure, you must have the hands of a surgeon!
