Hi all - here’s my latest project just finished - Scale Collectables’ superb 3D print of a Sid Naique sculpt of “Shea Brennan”, a character from the American miniseries “1883” in 1/8 scale. Painted in my usual oils and acrylics:

Hi Brian

What’s not to like on this , a fine version , particularly like the work on the neck and the cloying and material painting

With or without the hat he looks the business

Great to see you posting, look forward to seeing more

Thanks for sharing

Happy benchtime

Thanks, Kev! Am at two minds on the hat - leaving it loose for a while to see which “version I like best. May have to get another one so I have both - feels a little like I’m playing with my old G.I. Joes when I keep switching the hat on and off - a bit weird for a grown man! Reinforces all the stereotypes about figure modellers…

Cheers,
Brian

Brilliant version, I'd definitely go with the hat off, no need to hide all the work you've done on the top of his head.

Cheers Simon

Beautiful work.
Such a great bust to paint, I painted the 1/6th scale and enjoyed it so much I bought the 1/10th scale so I could paint it again.

Thanks all for the very kind comments - much appreciated.

If you only paint one bust this year, let it be this one - the likeness, detail and quality of the printing are incredible.

My thoughts exactly, Simon - although the hat is just so much a part of the character. Fortunately, I don’t really need to permanently attach it to the head so it’ll work either way. Unlike other headgear, especially soft hats like this one, this particular one really seems to sit correctly on the head even though it is a rigid resin print; I think it successfully avoids that “floating” look that sometimes occurs with hats that sit on a full head.
