Hello ,
Anybody knows where can I find pictures and/or Reviews for this Diorama from Shenandoah ?

Shenandoah Miniatures VIG03
''Behind the Split Rail Fence''

Shenandoah-VIG03.jpg

Mr. Gray From Colorado miniatures told me they are fantastic figures , but I ca'n't find any photos of this set , or reviews .
Thanks in advance
Regards
Julian

Julian, I have several of the spare parts sets they offer for one-off projects and they are nice. They are not the best on the market today but are far from the worst. The first couple of head sets are not bad, the ones that were produced after that being the better ones. The photo-etched belt buckles/plates are very nice and are the best of those being produced. The figures are simple and the only negative comment would be in regards to the casting. They require a little clean up and paint up very well.~Gary

Try Military Miniature Warehouse at www.milminwh.com, John carries all of the Shenandoah lines and has photos of everything they produce. I agree with everything Gary said except I don't like their photo-etched stuff.

I think the Shenandoah line is terrific. It's inexpensive and as such very well done. Much of the gear is cast on the figure and limits painting to an extent. Many poses are duplicated in other figure sets (different arms, a blanket, etc.). Their accesories are great for conversions. Some of the heads are a little soft. In my opinion they paint up nearly as well as figures twice the price. Shenandoah has a website, I believe it's listed in pF's links section.

Thanks Guys...
But I still can't find any review or pictures of the subject in question .
Can we compare Shenandoah to Andrea , for example ?
Regards
Julian

Gary,

Compared to the Nimix stuff, the Shenandoah stuff IMHO (and only IMHO), is limited and a little chunky (soft on detail).

Julian,
The sculpting job done by Paul Clark on this line is excellent. The detail is good and historically accurate for mostly "generic" ACW figures. Compared to Andrea, the actual scale is smaller and the figures are not compatible (Andrea being closer to 60 mm scale). It would not be accurate to say that Andrea figures have more detail, or are more anatomically correct, or more historically accurate.
The figures require more clean up than Andrea (removal of seam lines, etc.). The part fit is usually clean, with little filling required. The arms, head, muskets are usually unattached. Heads are interchangeable amongst figures, so that V3 vignette you've shown can be changed to include figures wearing kepis, for example.
The set does not include a base, but does include a nice split rail fence which is also cast in metal.
When I had my Russian sculptor sculpt my 1st Texas Brigade series, I sent him a few of the Shenandoah figures to match size, scale & style, since I am so impressed with the Shenandoah figures. They are by far, my best sellers (and I sell lots of Civil War figures!)
Hope this helps.

John

John , In their website , says it comes with the base and fence....
Can you confirm ? the base is included or not ?
Thanks for your time , already made up my mind to get this set .

Julian

Gray , I didn't know they were sold separately , that's real nice .
But to get 7 figures separately plus the fence , wouldn't be more expensive ?
Thanks
Julian

Julian,

I love the Shenandoah figures. You can see three samples in my workbench (not as good as your sample but...)

Also Gray (Colorado) can make a great deal with you. I usually buy this items there.

Rafa

Without getting negative, Shenandoah figures feature none of the proportion issues that creep into even the most popular lines; if you measure the Shenandoah's using the "head" method, they are right on the money in terms of proportion and anatomy and are consistently accurate throughout the line. Paul Clark (hope I got that right) is a true student of the American Civil War and his research is evident in every product he produces.--Steve

Rafa , thanks , but I am far behind most of the guys here !
Your work is quite impressive also !
I made up my mind , and in the next couple of months will get this dio from Shenandoah with Gray .
Regards
Julian
