Sid Naique's - Napoleon (Joaquin Phoenix)

Sid Naique's superbly detailed portrait bust of Joaquin Phoenix playing Napoleon in the upcoming Ridley Scott epic is now available through Scale Collectables

The bust not only captures the likeness to Phoenix perfectly but his uniform is full of lavish detail that 3d printing is able to replicate extremely well. It will be a very striking and colourful piece when painted

The standard bust is 1/5th scale but 1/6th, 1/8th and 1/10th versions are also available. It is a 3 part kit and as with all Scale Collectable items each bust is individually printed and cleaned up so it is ready to go straight from the box with only assembly and a final wash before painting

beautiful job except that when Bonaparte wore this uniform he was between 25 and 30 years old... Joaquim Phoenix is 49 and looks like older

here the orignal uniform wore by Bonaparte at Marengo... looks the difference

No, it is not Napoleon, sadly, but Sid's thing seems to be media characters and he does them better than anyone else at the moment. Personally I am not interested in this one, but I hope he does Vanessa Kirby as Joséphine de Beauharnais, that one I would buy.

we are overwhelmed with artistic licensing and destruction of culture. It is strange that they did not take an actor of color ...

the infuriating thing is that it was not difficult to work with makeup or special effects to restore the right identity to the character ...

in the scene where he meets Josephine he looks like his grandfather corrupting a young maiden when Josephine was 6 years older and with two children already grown up

Making a bust of this Bonaparte is a commercial operation simply but please let us not put him among the historical subjects

I don’t think the bust would ever be classed as being a historical subject. Sid Naique is known for his portrait busts of film and celebrity subjects and I thought the new Napoleon movie would be an opportunity to integrate his superb sculpting skills and my love of military modelling

I quite agree with make up and prosthetics the character could've looked more like Napoleon, based on portraits of him.
Goodness knows why they didn't. A recent film of Churchill went down this road and was extremely well done, so it can be achieved.
Sadly for us some film makers don't care about historical accuracies, but at least this film should be visionally pleasing
if nothing else.

One event I would like to see filmed is The Battle of Trafalgar, with todays technology it could be quite a film.
But yet again it would probably be lacking in actual events.

The model is a fantastic rendition of the subject and each to his own preference. I personally see no reason to model a movie version of a historical personage where models of the actual person exist, but no reflection on anyone who does.
I think this movie is destined to tank at the box-office. It has little to offer a general audience (the spectacular scenes don't look that spectacular in the trailer), and it seems too full of errors, false myths and cliché's to offer anything to the Napoleon faithful.
If I did want a film version of Nap I'd go for Steiger who at least portrayed him with some range of emotion.

A technical masterfully executed bust of the actor - unfortunately historical irrelevant. But the title of the thread has it - it's not intended to be Napoleon. - Maybe the next film by Ridley Scott will put Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise in the role of Hitler.....and will inspire some more interesting figures and busts ( lol)
