Beautiful sculpt, personally though I would trim the cape in line with the bust cut off line, sometimes I find 'overhang' a bit aesthetically odd but that's a personal thing. Hanging arms too never seem to qualify it as a a bust technically, more a half figure. All that aside though well done Carl, excellent piece and nice touch with the hand holding the smoke.

Thanks Buddy I'm glad you like it!

I'm affraid the Half figure/bust debate will rage on for ever more. I remember many, many years ago when I sculpted the "Magua" piece. Back then it was amongst the first half figures to be produced, and it created a huge debate as what class it should be entered. So I guess its a debate without an end, it's all down to personal choice as you say.

Cheers

Another great bust from Carl, but please, if you like "British" WWI, why allways helmet , and not something different like beginning of the war with the superbs Cap & Collar badges, why not also other "British" subjects, CEF, ANZAC, Indian Troops, it will be great.

Thank you for you kind words, I'm pleased you like him!

I have sculpted a number of WW1 pieces now for various companies, including my own range. But I have only sculpted a small amount of them with helmets.
I have sculpted Tommy's with a variety of headwear including "Gor Blimey caps", Glengarries, Tam o Shanters, flat peaked cap and helmtes, I also sculpted an Australian Light horse piece with wide brimmed hat that was never released.
With regard to the Cap badges, again I have sculpted a variety of different regiments, including, RFC, Fusilier, Gordons, Victoria Rifles, The warwicks, The Glousesters (although this was lapel badges,) Aussie light horse, etc!

Cheers

Carl

I can't remember one of Carl's tommies with a helmet before, correct me if I'm wrong. Also I think the cape is just fine as it is and completes this bust. Can't wait to see it painted and this is another must have Carl Reid bust for me!
