I apologize for straying from the posts of your superb bust, but thought I'd mention a couple more things.
Are you familiar with the I-Spy Book of British Uniforms, put together by Chris McDonald as a .pdf file? The 4.97 megabyte .pdf file is much too large to try to post here. Drop me an e-mail if you are interested in getting a copy. I will need your current e-mail address to send it. Be sure to tell me about any incoming attachment size limits for your e-mail system.
It's an excellent resource on British uniforms 1914-1918. Doesn't cover the "KD" tropical kit however. The Indian army pre-1914 put together a complete KD set of uniforms made of lighter weight materials suitable for tropical climates. That's what the Indian army was wearing when it went to war. See attached line drawing of KD tunics. I don't have similar drawings for the rest of the KD uniform. When the British army units were posted to Egypt and other tropical destinations, they changed to KD uniforms.
All the best,
Dan
