Great work on painting the heraldy, but the baseworks are....

Sorry, but why are so many painters named to paint four figures ???

I hope you don`t need as many fathers to make one chield....

Sorry, just kidding...

I see these beauties at shows...an the painting is breathtaking, for sure...but I do have to agree with Berny...what gives with the bases? They are as sparse as you can get.
I guess it's just a painting excercise...and that's it? As an A to Z mini though, it's just not finished. Not even on a wooden base..
It's hard to even think of criticism in the light of such splendid rendering...but a spade is a spade.
Maybe the poster can explain...is it possibly left for the buyer to do? Is that the idea?

I think his place is like St. Peterburgh collection. Where a collection of master quality painters will paint one particular portion of a figure. One guy does the heraldry (that guy is really good) while others paint the rest (not as good as the heraldry guy but learning). The idea behind the base or lack of a base is a tradition or old school if you will. Bases are an aftermarket addition even in paint yourself kits. Pegaso and the biggies do not include a base. I have seen these figures in a private collection and they incredible. If the collector wants to put them on a base (which I think they should) that is their choice. But the art is what you buy, not the mount.

Sorry for the detailed comment but I asked the same question.

Hi Nastya,
Welcome to the world of Planet
I always admired works such particular mr.Kolobob and always wondered how doing so many incredible detail decoration on clothing.
Really, painted with oils or acrylics?
The inspiration for the many projects?
I am astonished by these jobs.
Excellent!!!

Alexandros

While I absolutely admire the artistic skill and patience required to paint such detail on a 54mm figure, I can't say I like these figures very much.

Compared to the dazzling heraldry, other elements are pretty ordinary.

Wow, this sure is some impressive heraldry painting!
My eyes would go cross-eyed for a week after each painting session I'm sure.

I agree with the remarks about bases: particularly since these seem to be commercial pieces. Adding a base will make the piece much more attractive while not being a lot of work to perform. Add a nice base plus name plate and it all looks even more expensive!

Impressive display!

Cheers,
Adrian

I always love the Russian School.
We also had a lady in our club (AMSS) from the Russian School. She never told us how to paint this kind of heraldy.
We all know there are more then one painter involved in these incredible pieces.
