Quite by chance I've just come across the news that Skytrex have gone into administration. It seems that one or two of the smaller ranges of wargames items they made have been sold but it is expected that the other ranges of wargame items may be lost. This of course reduces even further the possibility that any of the old Hinchliffe ranges will reappear.

Probably not of much interest here but apparently the railway ranges have been bought.

Shame another part of my youth has gone as well as the loss of some quality stuff potentially

From the various statements I've seen it appears that there is to be a sale of existing stock while buyers are sought for separate parts of the business. The Hinchliffe products scaled at 54mm and above have been out of production for some time and so the patterns/moulds etc may not be in a viable state to sell as a going concern. (It's to be hoped that the said patterns/moulds haven't been destroyed.)
I've seen a report that suggests that the short & long term liabilities of the business amount to around £4.8 million while the assets amount to around £1.4 million. Unfortunately some people are going to take a very massive hit. These do sound to be very large sums and can only be explained by Skytrex's introduction into the model railway (railroad) market where they were holding and selling high value items.

Pity that vintage Hinchcliffe gun kits will never be reissued.

It will be a shame if the moulds for the Hinchliffe guns have gone for good. I spoke to them several years ago as I was after the British 9pdr. and they said that the moulds needed refurbishing and they didn't know when they'd get them done. Like Steve another part of my youth gone!
