Pegaso have been putting out a few turkeys just recently, but this I like. Will most likely add it to my shopping list for EuroMil in September.

After a long time...one most interesting subject. He seems to be a warlord or noble war leader.
An opportunity for a lot of people to learn about the history of the Balkans.

Another great figure but I for one wish that we could get some new 54mm figures. I'm not all that sold on the 75mm figures. They are a nice midde road between 54 and 90/120mm but I miss the odd 54mm release from Pegaso these days.

I like this release and it seems like it is correctly research from the historic point of view. I would have only concerns about the spear and helmet. The spear seems to be little bit to short and the sharp edge is unusual.

Here is a picture of the project realized by polish students from Art Institute in Poznań. This project represents migrating Slovakian people. It has been really well researched by students regarding historic accuracy.

My Opinion:

Somethig fits, others does not fit.

After the precious sword, he is a prince, but this does not fit the fur cloak nor the fur vest.

A prince of theat time we must imagine like this ...:

The helmet is definitely not Slavic, but Lombard. It was found in a grave of an Allemanic-Prince in southern Germany ( Niederstotzingen) and is dated to the year 600

I have not found a matching template for the speer.

Better than the "Scotsman" but - historic seen - not really good ...

But phantastic sculpted and painted!

Cheers

Translated picture text of the helmet...:

"Iron lamellar helmet of the period by 600 from the triple grave 12 of Niederstotzingen. Such helmets were common in the Mediterranean and witness contacts the Alemanni to the Lombards established in Italy. In his grate a piece has genuine silk obtained (Photo: P. Frankenstein, H. Zwietasch; Landesmuseum Württemberg, Stuttgart)."

Cheers
