Hi friends,

Here's sneak peek of my 1/35 DAK figure diorama, built 2 months ago for new Japanese book "MMWS / Military Miniature Work Shop", which will be published in Japan on upcoming 2012/11/16.
MMWS-01mywork.jpg

The book is to push "Tamiya Military Miniatures Series" (Tamiya sponcered), so everything must be done by using only Tamiya kits. That was the most challenging part. I hope you like it.

and here's the cover of the book.

10 dioramas by 9 japanese modelers. Contribute modelers are:

Masahiro Doi (ex-chief editor of "Armour Modelling" magazine),
Kazuhisa Shibata
Yoshitaka Hirano (widely well-known ww2 figure sculptor),
Kazunori Yamada,
Katsutoshi Kaneda,
Eiki Takuma,
Tetsuo Horikawa,
Takayuki Kawase,
Kazufumi Tomori (Me)

The book will be available via Amazon.co.jp and local retail stores. Not sure about world-wide selling yet.

Excellent job Kaz(y)!! You really pulled off the animation very well. I especially like the tank commander hunkered down in his hatch and how the flag seems to be flapping about on the back deck. I'd like to get my mits on a copy of this book.

Hello Kaz:

In my view, one of the most difficult things about dioramas
and vignettes is that everything has to be completed to the
very same high standard. And in 1:35th scale I see that as
particularly difficult. Congrats to you Kaz, as your figures
are as well posed & painted as the AFV and the palm tree.
Well done,

Miami Jayhawk. . . Yes, College hoops starts tomorrow!!!

Hi Kaz,

I would like a signed copy please !

I am hoping I can get hold of the book ...
Sounds excellent !

Great to see you do 35th scale, lovely work on the DAK diorama : )

Are the figures Tamiya also ?

Carlos

Thanks everybody for nice compliments, I'm glad.

I especially like the tank commander hunkered down in his hatch and how the flag seems to be flapping about on the back deck.
Thanks, that's one of the important elements of this dio!

Yes you're right, that was the most difficult thing to make it look 'good' and 'natural'. Diorama is not just a collection of figures and AFV put on the same base, All elements should be harmonized as a team. That's what I really focused on.

:) that's an easy request for me, my friend.

I'm glad to have such a nice comment from 35th specialist like you. I should have seen your 1/35 vignette works before I built it, 'cause I finished this diorama 2months before Euro. :)

Are the figures Tamiya also ?
Yes, the conversion of this kit:

main concept of this diorama is to reproduce the first Panzer II box art.

Hello Kaz, Excellent action in your dio. Great sense of movement with the panzer II and figures. The painting, as always, looks fantastic. Did you also have to use Tamiya paints, in keeping with the all Tamiya theme? Regards, SG(y)

Kaz, you're unstoppable, dude! Great work with just Tamiya figures...your brushes worked wonders on this old stuff!

Excellent Job you've Kaz!!
When I first enterd the hobby was trough the tamyia kits when I was a kid... I was fascinated and didn't know much. But as I grew older I found that tamyia had
a lack of good scuplt figures. The vehicles were very nice, but the figures didn't. I think they have to work on that, have multipose figures, spar parts, I think is very important.
I'm now a little away from that 1:35 figures and type of modelism, but If tamyia is launching a new line of products (understood right?) I am very happy. Maybe I'll go back to that sometimes.

Regards
Pedro

That is some incredible work. I particularly like the Nam dio, full of stuff to keep the eye moving, incredible! Thx for the tip Kaz.

Cheers, Ski.
