2 EK castings- a Napoleonic inf. officer & a 18th century Russian grenadier
Andrea's crossbowman
Shenandoah rebel
a small vignette of an Indian counting coup on a downed behind his horse cavalry soldier
I've only got another 2 months or so before I wrap it up for the summer & as slow as I paint, I hope I can get a few of these finished in time.

Most actively working on:

1/6 original Marshal Ney on the retreat from Moscow (but nothing done in the last 2 weeks)

Dabbling with painting:

54mm mounted Metal Models hussar officer as an ADC to Prince Jerome
90mm mounted Captain Manhes as ADC to Murat (the amazing old Barton kit I got on eBay!)
a slew of 28mm Games Workshop LOTR figures for my 3 sons
some more 6mm 1809 French and Austrian wargame figures

Undercoated and in the queue:

White Models' 90mm mounted Lasalle
Andrea's standing 90mm hussar officer "The Captain"

Hello Colin,

I wondered who got the Barton Kit on ebay. I saw it and put it on my "watch list" but never bid on it. I watch ebay every day and have made some terrific buys off ebay.

Hope you enjoy painting it. The Barton series was a good line of figures.

Hi Guy:

Its an amazing sculpt for the time. You're right - you can get some great deals on eBay as long as you are wary. I've bought historical autographs (very risky), an old oil painting, antigue porcelein for my wife and lots of books.

He sits beautifully in the saddle and he just stinks of self assurance, as one might expect from an ADC and deputy of Murat. I think Manhes might have been a bit of a political hatchet man for Murat as well. I'll have to dig up a bio.

Its a far better figure than the 54mm Pegaso (count the insufficient number of hussar laces on the pelisse on that one).

Cheers

Colin

Hello Colin,

I have a 90mm Mounted BArton Baron Von Zieten in the works and have another Napoleonic mounted kit of theirs that didn't have any paperwork with it and I have yet to identify it. I have always liked their kits. I have a 90mm Mounted Landsknect that I did back in the early 80's that has suffered from metal fatigue. I had to put a tree stump that just barely touches the horse's stomach and install a brass rod through the stump, into the stomach to keep the horse standing upright. Some of the older kits didn't use a very strong wire / rod / armature for mounting and one day he was laying on its side. Luckily, I used a little heat to re-bend him into the original position and supported him.
