That's a recent trend, isn't it, that spammers interact a little more than just creating an account. I've seen one or two at Treefrog who do that. They join, then post once or twice in some thread, and then they update their signatures with links to their websites.

Reminds me of Philip K Dick's "Second Variety", in a way.
