I just got dinged with an auto renewal for Soldatini International through the i store and pocket mags. Apparently subs auto renew unless you advise of cancellation 24 hours ahead of time. I actually looked for that when I decided to cancel 2 months ago but could see no such info or option in the app. I only see it when I do a google search and not even when I choose the google hit.

Be aware. You have to turn off renewals in the bowels of the app.

Giovanni is endeavouring to assist.

Hi Colin,

As discussed in private, the auto renewal is something to do with iTunes and Apple, we only provide the content.

Unfortunately to cancel the subscription you have to go trough the AppStore account and cancel it.

Will try all our best to help, I hope Apple support will help as well.

Thanks

Giovanni - I have emailed Pocketmags to ask for a refund. Sorry to go public here but your initial PM had a sense of "not my problem" and I will admit I was quite angry. Your subsequent PMs made it clear that you are willing to do everything you can to assist and I want to make sure that everyone realizes this. The issue is not Giovanni, its Pocket Mags.

To those who subscribe to emags, be aware that they likely auto renew and rebill unless you actively cancel. And the app providers (e.g. Pocket mags, not Soldatini) don't exactly publicize this or make its easy to cancel....it is buried in the FAQs.

Thanks for your offer to help Giovanni. But I do think it is important that all subscribers are aware of the terms and conditions imposed by your product's distributor.

Regards

You are quite right and I should have waited rather than reacting with frustration to your initial response. I admit I have a bit of a hot button for this issue if principle since our cable TV companies started this type of "negative option billing" a few years ago and the government had to step in to make them stop. Aplogies for my hot headedness. Nevertheless the info is important for all users to be are of.

To all of those who don't know, you need to turn off auto renew in the app store. Live and learn. Grrrrr

Thanks for the heads up Colin, I checked my subscription and to my relief didn't auto renew. Much as I appreciate Giovanni's efforts to provide us with an English Edition, reading from a computer screen and more importantly the inability to print out and file articles of interest (Pocket mags say you can but I couldn't make it happen) just didn't do it for me.

Hi Keith,

I think the best option is to do a "print screen" of the page you are viewing.

Hi Paul,

Please do contact Apple customer care, I can try to send an email to Pocketmags and ask them to refund you if you provide me with your username.

Again, we are a small company, we want people to enjoy modelling and the magazine, we are not getting rich (not even cover the expenses).

If you have any issues, please let us know, we will try to help, unfortunately we can not dictate any rules to Apple as you can imagine.

Thanks

Giovanni
