Soldatini International is an Electronic magazine that can be read from your PC, Ipad, Tablet, or other like device. It is an offshoot of Soldatini written in Italian.
Ever since I got my first Italian issue I have been thrilled with the quality and scope of the pictures. With the advent of the International version and the ability to read about what I was seeing I have been hooked. Issue 3 has just been released and so I will give a review of the magazine over the past 2 issues.
Soldatini, Soldatini International have set out to be the magazine for people who do miniatures. The span the gamete of genres from sci-fi to modern. They do acrylics painting, oils, and sculpting.
The imagery is vivid and of a size easy to see. In each issue are photographs from various competitions which provide some really inspiring ideas on what to paint next or add to the grey army..
There are step by steps and lessons that are very informative.
The latest issue has an incredible tutorial on colour theory which is very easy to read and understandable. I was amazed to see a figure of Napoleon painted with only 5 colours on the palette.
The subject matter is diverse and I think quite interesting. From colour plates of various units to figures from all the genres.
The magazine is a reasonable $6.99 per issue or 6 for $29.99 at Pocket mags.
Try is, I think you will find yourself hooked as I did. Informative, colourful, interesting, either version Italian or International will have something of interest to everyone.
