So hopefully, when Frank's online again, he can comment!

And I expect he's never seen his work so close up!

Thanks Rob
Its a real buzz to see my work posted.

The figure is 54mm though nearer 60mm, beautifully sculpted by
Adriano Larrucia.
It is in progress at the moment painted in acrylics a medium which
suits my limited time. I employ oil painting principles in terms of achieving
colour graduation and sheens where necessary
particularly on skin tones.

The shield design is from a relief and known as the "Hand of Neptune"
After trying many ways to trace the design a free hand (pardon the pun)
was arrived at by means of drawing and tidying up. It has yet to have a
cadeuceus a snake entwined round the trident and the background painted red

A big thankyou to Rob for His photography
and everyone for their comments.

Hi John
The scale armour is done with a pen very simalar to a ball point,
marketed by "Pentel" and available in art shops or stationers.
I have their Gold, Silver and a Copper colour.
After first painting the armour overall in a dark brown, I applied
the gold using the pen to the uppermost surfaces. At this stage it looks
unrealisticaly bright. I then apply washes of Citadel inks to tone it back.
The following colours were used Flesh wash, Dark Brown, Orange Ink
first individualy then in mixes for graduation of tone (visual blending)
If overdone, restore the gold by scribbling the pen on a piece of scrap
plasticard Then lift up some of the colour with a damp (saliva coated) brush
and re-apply

Hope this Helps
