Found these on facebook., a couple of interesting points .
The colours on the Chasseur of the Garde horse furniture and facings all different shades
which I always presumed to be the same, but could just be discoloured with age.

The mounted Dragoon coat on the portmanteau is folded much looser than depicted on all the models I have seen . Screenshot 2018-11-01 at 19.08.27.png Screenshot 2018-11-01 at 19.07.15.png Screenshot 2018-11-01 at 19.06.36.png

And a nice shot of an early infantry man

With tongue in cheek, according to IPMS the model colours are the correct colours and should be used as reference.:D:D

Yea John :) The Shabraque facing ,the Eagle and the facing round the sabretache should all be the same .

This stuff is 201 years old or a bit more and no colour fast dye's plus museum curators are prone to bodging things together now and then to complete an exhibit , but ultra violet light is more than likely the culprit .

I have been there Keith as I am sure you have , I am not so sure of your conclusions as a lot of contemporary artists added extra highlights and lightened some of the more dark colours to give contrast .

The Chasseur shabraque looks a bit dark I agree but then the Dragoon green looks a bit light , when you see Napoleons great coat it is extremely light compared to contemporary prints .
All the blues of the Marshals uniforms are very Dark to almost black as are the Artillery .

Hi Ronaldo

A interesting subject so much variation when originally made with the dyes available I am sure as well as the difference between ranks .........

they are great pictures so thanks for sharing ...lighting in museums always seems to be a issue as well

As for model colours being right ........of course they really are always ....as if !!!

Aurorer Think thats how its spelt , is a difficult colour to depict . Best description I have heard is Salmon pink tinged with orange.
