Hi Jed..... I don't think there is any ideal ratio for any piece. I think it's all a matter of balance and taste. For my taste the base is a bit too tall. What do you think?. You have to admit the painting is super. Maybe Constantin likes to keep his pieces consistent when it comes to height.
