A Fixture
Well after a few figs with heavy medieval heraldry, it is nice to change and to get back to more traditionnal figs, especially with no freehand (see last FOTM )
a quick SBS of the face - oil painted
primed with humbrol mat 63
base color ; light oxide red, yellow ochre, a touch of blue cobalt and Tit White.
In the second and third phase, tiny quantities of cadmium deep red, burnt umber, blue cobalt, and of course WT (progressively added to the base coat ).
the armor (not quite finished ) is painted with inks.
they mix very well with oil paints, to give nice degrees of various shades....
I usually build up a face in about 4-5 days, letting each stage dry before addind more tiny quantities of paint.
This is the only way to avoir excess paint.
The long drying time is compensated by the blending achieved (in comparison to acrylics )
