Stormtroopers Boarder Reiver 1:9th scale Bust
This is one of the new releases from Stormtroopers, sculpted by Carl Reid. It comprises of nine light grey resin parts. All parts are packed and well protected in a sturdy cardboard box and are in poly zip lock bags. A close inspection of the parts show a good level of detail and casting with only a minimal of cleanup and mould plug removal.
We can see the three angles of the head, the detail and character that has been sculpted into the face to Carl`s usual excellence. The helmet of the figure is a one piece casting along with the rest of the head.
The main torso of the bust shows both front and back views as well as the pedestal mounting base. We can see the small mould blocks that need to be removed and the location point for the head and arms.
The left arm is cast in one piece with the hand, the right one has a separate hand that need to be glued which accommodates the crossbow.
Test fitting of the arms shows a nice snug fit with no evidence of any gaps or filler needed.
The casting of the right hand and crossbow, good level of detail with only a few blocks to remove and a small mould seam line.
Location of the right arm, hand and crossbow shows the excellent fitting.
Other small parts included are the end part for the crossbow, pouch and a ribbon.
Conclusion:
Another well sculpted and well cast piece from Carl. All parts need to have mould blocks removed and there is a minimal cleanup of parts. I am sure this will be a popular piece on the competition tables. Click HERE to see an SBS painted version by Ernesto Reyes. Highly recommended.
