Hi all
Started on my 44th foot today very. Much at the early stages ,more highlighting on the leather jerkin and shadows and more stains , almost completed the sash, scarf also in early stages .
Looking forward to starting on the face and hat, although not really looking forward to trying to work under the peak ,will be interesting, bit like a gynaecologist decorating his hall way through the letter box lol.
Beautiful figure to work great job Stuart ,very crisp paint goes we're you want it to .
Work tomorrow bugger
Cheers Chris

Cheers Kevin
It's a cracking figure , it's one of those busts that when you start painting it flows so well , I always feel that is the sign of a great sculpt , I would get it
Thanks for the feed back
Cheers Chris

Hi guys
Wondering if anyone had any advice about some weathering / damage I was thinking of doing to the hat of my 44th foot bust ,does anyone have an idea what it was constructed off ,just felt that considering the awful time they had had trying to get to Islamabad ,and eventual last stand at Gandamack the headgear could well have taken quite a beating any advice would be greatly appreciated .
Cheers Chris

Christopher, I was already targeting this bust ... but was delaying the purchase ... sincerely, after seeing your topic I purchased it :)

And it is stunning! Even better than my best expectations! I can hardly wait to start it. I don't know why I took so long to acquire it! It is a brilliant miniature.

If I were to advise: Locate the mandatory article wrote by Bill Horan in 1988 in Military Modelling regarding the creation of his diorama "The Last Stand at Gandamak". It is spread over three issues: October, November and December.

The Last Stand, as we all know, changed the perception of figurine modelling for ever! For the younger generations reading this I will only advise to google images of exactly this: "Bill Horan" + "Last Stand at Gandamak"

Bill researched quite well the event. For example it was raining /snowing in the events - therefore Bill darkened the colors and placed more contrast in order to replicate wet clothes. Fading, staining and grim were also placed. Chris, take your time - read the articles - I sincerely think they are all that you will need!

Happy painting! I hope I can join you soon with my copy!

Looking good Chris.
For weathering the hat you got drill some small hole's in it and then with a Xacto knife some cuts to the hole. You can also cut some resin away and with putty you can sculpt again a crack. It al depends on what you are looking for.

Marc
