You know, this show never gets a mention on here and I'm fed up with that. It's at the Town Hall in Sutton Coldfield in the Midlands on 8 September 2013. Come along and show some support. I will be there with my mate Kevin (Napoleonpeart) . There will be a competition and a few traders and that's as much as I know. That's enough really for us to show an interest isn't it. Kev, come on back me up here.

And I shall be wearing an even more fetching blue Planet Figure shirt. Stop by and say hello.

well, it was a good show and I managed to pick up a gold for my great uncle Walter bust. So a good day was had. Unfortunately Napoleonpeart couldn't make it as he was needed at work. I did manage to meet up with our very own member Valient who was with the Mier Model Club, one of the best clubs in the Stoke On Trent area. Nice to meet you mate. Sadly I heard that the much respected chairman of the Sutton Coldfield Model Club, Douglas Burchell, had passed away on 29th July after a sudden illness. He was always turned out immaculately for the Sutton Coldfield show and I remember him always smiling. He was very much a gentleman and will be much missed by all that knew him.
Met up with a nice family from Lichfield who had all entered models in the competition, husband wife and son. The lady won a 3rd with a nice snow scene German tank Diarama scene, and her son won a gold for the Diarama category with a very nice Andrea barbarian taking on the Romans. Unfortunately I never got their names but we had a nice chat and I advised the son to have a look at PF so with any luck we may see him here soon.
I shall put some pics on as soon as I can.

As promised here are a few pics of the show.

Here are the last few pics. The final two pictures are from my latest project. It is the largest piece I have ever done and I am rather proud of it. Called "A rare shot" it depicts an impossible collection of wild west characters being photographed together in front of a saloon. It is very loosely based upon a very famous photograph from the 1880s called the Hunters Hot Spring photo which allegedly showed an unlikely group of famous gunslingers together. This was eventually discovered to be a group of normal townspeople who had been mistaken for famous people. My depiction is even more unlikely as several of the figures are characters from the movies mixed in with real life wild west gunslingers. I have John Carradine as the Undertaker waiting in the background with a tape measure in his hand behind his back in case it all goes wrong. Clint Eastwood as the Pale Rider is staring distrustfully at the camera, Jack Wilson from the film Shane and Liberty Valance are getting ready to draw their guns, and Steve McQueen as Josh Randall from Wanted dead or alive is in a kneeling pose. Mixed with real characters such as Pancho Villa, Wild Bill Hickok, Liver Eating Johnson and Teddy Roosevelt. It is all just a bit of fun and not meant to be taken seriously but I had a great time putting it all together and I have plans to add some more to it. Unfortunately the judges at the show did not seem to see the funny side of it and it come away without any prizes but that's the name of the game. The final photo shows a sepia print of what the photographer saw when he took the photo. Who knows what happened to him afterwards???
I hope you like it and welcome any comments.

I also met up with Martin from War Griffin Miniatures and had a good chat with him. I finally bought the excellent Dragon Lord from him which I have been meaning to get since I first saw it. Looking forward to making that one up, it's more a kit than a bust with loads of pieces to fit together. Cheers Martin.
