This is a well modelled figure of a famed character which at 90mm is now on sale for £61 in the UK and $80 overseas, compared to £65 for 200mm figures from other respected manufacturers. I an aware of development, production and marketting costs, but this seems excessive.

Where are you looking Mike? He is €47.93 direct from Kilgore so that is a steep mark up someone has added.
Sadly all the helpful comments here about the accuracy of details were ignored. The prototype shown in the original post is what was produced.
Also the intended bust version has not appeared yet.

Hi Mike just on the subject of cost. The price could reflect the cost of the materials that are being used. You have different grades of resins some are cheaper than others. This would have to be reflected in the cost. same goes for the RTV rubber molds again he could be using more expensive materials. Take into account sculpting costs they vary with who you use, packaging and box art this could push up the price. It all reflects in the pricing of the figure. These cost will vary greatly it could also depend on the cost of materials in the country of origin too.

Just wanted to point out that the price might be reflected in production cost.

The price on the Historex web site is £60.60. I have now seen the price as advertised on the Kilgore web site which seems reasonable, so there is obviously a significant discrepacy in buying direct or from a retail supplier. Having done some work for a number of figure producers, I am well aware of the cost of rubber, resin and packaging, and of the variation in fees charged by various sculptors. Mitches Military Models uses first class sculptors, and a look at their web site gives an idea of the cost of assorted figures at various scales.

Hi Mike, the point I was making was that every company uses different resins, materials, packaging. I was referring to the cost that could occur in other parts of the world. But having looked at both website you can see Retailers do add more.

Most manufacturers commission work from the same pool of first class sculptors. So the price is around the same depending on what you commission, same with box artists again using the same talent pool. With the advent of 3D you have more scope to do different scales. But you still have to cast them and in some cases print them. At the end of the day it’s the customers choice to either go direct or buy from a distributor/retailer.
