I know this isn't a figure but it's going with one.o_O It's from Young's 90MM SS officer. My first go at the salt and hairspray method, the mantlet needs oils and pigments yet. The gun itself hasn't had a scrub.
Carl.

That looks very interesting Carl, will follow with enthusiasm as I
fancy doing a bit of amour and maybe you could explain the salt method.

Ronnie

Awesome Carl, I love the effect. It already looks 'in scale'

Too much heavy washing and modulation will break the scale effect and make it look like a model!

Nice work Carl, as an armour buff will watch with interest, as mentioned above, I think there was two versions of this fig/mantlet/turret and you may have the more common release?

Yeh, Carl:

I agree with Gordy. . . it really does look scale. And as I think of my
experiences in this hobby, that is not easy to pull off. Will watch this
progress, re WIP and SBS with a great deal of interest. For one reason, altho
I have been aware of the salt technique for quite some time, I've never
actually tried it. Yeh well. . . . 8-(

Great start, Carl,

Ricardo Jayhawker

Thanks Rick. Have a safe trip, and good luck. Here's a little work on the figure, not happy with the Italian camo. They might have to go and be replaced with leather trousers.
Carl.

Now I've got a decent reference for the combats(thanks Steve). I've decided to go with the Italian look for now. I've incorporated the base colour into the other two colours, so it does look a bit more unified. So I'll have to see.o_O
Carl.

I've given the mantlet a dusting of Mig powders, and a some streaking with oils. I think these could be darkened in places now they've dried back.
Carl.
