Here's another. Does anyone else remember the Jackdaw series of history folders. This would be around th. mid sixties early seventies.
Each folder covered an historical event or period, Waterloo, The Armada etc. Jam packed with a whole bunch of facsimile photographs, maps amd documents
In addition was well written and comprehensive text on the subject. No doubt that the accuracy of lots of the content,par ticularly those covering ancient subjects have been debunked but the facsimilies remain fascinating as historical references
Pretty sure they are long out of print. I know that it can be argued that all of the information is available on-line but there was something about laying everything out on the table.

Cheers Del, its a veritable Aladdin's Cave at my parents'! All my "collectable" stuff is there - one day, I need to catalogue it all, cos its probably worth a bob or two, now!(y)
 
I've still got the Russian Revolution,I know where that is, and somewhere there is the Easter Rising Jackdaws knocking about.
 
For those of you thay have any pocket money left this week after filling the side pockets of your blazer with refreshers arrow bars, fruit salad chews and penny toffees, may I recommend a visit to W H Smith's who still stock your favourite history books , 4 titles per month.

This months selection was photographed whilst firing dried peas at my friends instore with my pea shooter.

The ones I had were called "kalkitos" and were mainly non-military.
Remembering that brandname after 35+ years should be saying something, right?:whistle:
