Taking Requests

I recently had a look at my figure account, and see that I have about $200 left over after my SCAHMS trip. Well, it simply wouldn't do to have money sitting around like that, and it's been a least a month since my last purschase. But I'm having a hard time deciding on a new project (let's pretend that the 4 projects I currently have unfinished don't count O.K.?)

So, I thought it might be fun to find out what figure(s) you would choose to buy if you had a couple of hundred Canadian dollars to spend. Most of Pegaso's releases in 75 mm over the past year have found a home on my shelf, including the 90 mm Templar Sergeant, if that is any help in forming your opinion. But other than that, I'm open to your suggestions. I don't really have a favorite historic period, scale or subject, so the only limitation to your wish list is the $200 Canadian price limit, which would be STRICTLY enforced by my missus (other wise known as the minister of finance). There you have it ladies and gentlemen, I am taking your requests. You suggest it, I'll choose one (or a couple depending on price) and post the results. I am looking forward to hearing your suggestions.

Although I may have to kick in a few dollars more......I would seriously look at the 90mm Mounted Templar Knight Andrea came out with last year. is an awesome figure.

If I could afford it I would buy the Andrea WW1 German machine gun team.
How does that convert to Can $'s?
Go on, I haven't seen this one painted apart from the boxtop.

Guy, you are right, Andrea's mounted crusader is a stunning, and very tempting suggestion indeed. I haven't done a mounted figure for a while either. But it could put me seriously over budget, once shipping is added. Still.....

Rodger, I have to admit when I first saw that WW I M.G. team, I almost bought it, but I balked at the $105 price, which I thought was a little rich for three 54mm figures. I may have to rethink that original assessment.

I have the Ronin 90mm of Roy Hunt Miniatures.
This is a breathtaking figure. It comes with two heads and two different accescoires for the figure.
It is awesome.

No you didn't Glenn but at the risk of offending anybody it must've been bred out by now, otherwise you wouldn't be considering spending that amount on a figure/s :lol:

Perhaps you'd like to consider the new 1/16 scale WW2 German tanker figure that Mike Good sculpted and Alpine Miniatures is releasing ? It's fully resin and comes with a choice of heads. Just my 2 cents worth. Cheers !

I saw that figure posted the other day and was stunned at the level of detail. I don't often do German WW II figures, just because there are so many of them out there, but this one is definately in the running. Do you have any idea when it will be on the shelves?

I was checking out Redlancers web site and saw two figures that cuaght my eye. I don't know if you like subjects of the French&Indian war/Seven years war, but $200 dollars Canadian should be enuff to get them.take a look you may like them.

They are definately great looking figures. The period does appeal to me as the 7 years war was pivotal in Canada's early history, and seeing as I teach Canadian history, I might even be able to write this off as a business expense! :lol: That second figure especially has me thinking.

The second figure is really nice,after seeing it i bought one this morning. Down here in the States there is a reenacting group that does 1st regiment of foot,Grenadier Co. of the Seven years war. So this summer when i go to events i will take pics of them and will have a authentic painting guide of the uniform.

I've been at this hobby for many years and have come to the conclusion that for all the many figures i've bought i could count on the one hand the ones that i've truly enjoyed doing and adding to my collection.It's very much a personal thing as everybody has their own tastes but the one that stands out for me is Pegaso's 54mm Irish Knight .Iwould have never bought this figure by just looking at the box art, but once seen out of the box i was hooked.I've since painted 2 of them,differently i may add, and eventually gave into temptation and sold them to a well known American collector,after being made an offer i couldn't refuse.I've always regretted selling them so i bought another one the other day just for me.
Summing up,one of the most versatile medieval figures there is,and without doubt the best in scale chainmail you'll ever see.

Hi Glenn..this is my current favourite figure...Dave Maddox (Figure Mad) picked one up yesterday at our show (Welling 2006) and I had the opportunity to have a very close look at it...all I can say is that it's a stunner, the casting is perfection and the detail is second to none, it's a great scale at 70mm and a beautiful subject...and would leave you a fair bit of change too..!

Hi Glenn

$C200 - that's a nice sum. Figurewise I would agree with Roy that the Latorre 2nd Punjab Cavalry officer is very good, and represents a period that hasn't had a lot of coverage lately.

However, as you are a FIW fan, I would add two of La Meridiana's offerings - the Seneca Scout and the Fusilier, Compagnies Franches de la Marine - both are beautiful. You could probably get all three for your two hundred bucks, and you wouldn't regret it I'm sure.

You will let us know what you spend the loot on, I hope!

Sorry,I'm afraid the release date for the Alpine 1/16 scale figure is still a "mystery" to me . However,Taesung did mention in his post that he is only waiting for the box-art and kit box to be ready before releasing it, so I suppose it will be soon. Anyway,I'm sure that he will announce it first on pF once the kit is out ! HTH. Cheers !

Well, first off I want to thank everyone for your suggestions. When I first came up with this idea, I thought it would make my decision easier. Wrong! You have all come up truely outstanding figures that were never on my radar, and I now have to make a very careful decision. I can tell you this much, I am 99% sure that I won't spend it all on one figure, not when I can get several masterpieces for the same price. So it's off to the virtual market I go. I'll definately let you know what I decide, but I'm pretty sure the first one I'm going to check out is that Latorre Punjab Officer. Thanks again everyone.
