Large scale garage kit from Amok Time Toys. Oils are still shiny, but I will matte them down after some drying time. Getting to work on the jungle next; I also have to build his knife and locket.

Hi Matt

Great to see your painting , love the flesh work and the chimp is nicely done

Obviously this is based on me .......not the chimp ....lol

A fun piece and looks like your enjoying this

Be interested in the colours you used on the flesh if possible

Looking forward to seeing more on the jungle

Happy benchtime

My favorite artist of Burroughs works was J. Allen St. John, who did many of the early illustrations. A friend shared an analysis of St. John’s color palette, which I tried to replicate, so the colors are all mixed from that, over an airbrushed base. I initially tried St. John’s textured brush strokes, but it didn’t work for me in three dimensions, and I love to blend anyway :)

Phenomenal. can't see how this could be improved in any way. Got any John Carter stuff stashed away? Would love to see some Barsoom armor added to all that flesh.
