It's a Maurice Cory figure

You might want to reconsider the 3 colour DCU pattern, the pale green isn't surrounded by the tan on the real stuff.

Thanks for the comments - am considering stripping off the paint on the trousers and starting them again...

Good move James, the camo pattern can be deceptive. But, if you can get your hands on a set for physical reference you can match all those colors exact with Tamiya acrylics. I was able to match them for my "Knock and Talk" dio, makes for a more realistic finish, true to color.

That's a nicely sculpted figure, should come out just fine for you.(y)

Cheers, Ski.:D

P.S. http://www.planetfigure.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43033 This is my interpretation from many photo references taken off the net, the green is washed out and not really pronounced at all. It's a common mistake I've seen with this camo pattern, but having the actual uniform article in hand will really help you see the difference. Also, the pics from the net will help with weathering this light uniform color which really becomes a seriously faded example of the original.

Have stripped the trousers and repainted the base colour... i've added some flesh colour and a touch of white to the mix to help the faded /worn look...

I am going to try a different approach and will shade and highlight the colours as i lay them down...

Many thanks for the suggestion Steve - will see how I go!

Will post some more photos shortly.

After much umming and ahing i stripped the whole figure and am going to repaint from scratch...

I wasn't happy with the face and thought a whole fresh start would be a better idea...

James one of the best sources i can give you is ebay, i use it all the time, search the camo you are after and people selling old used stuff often have several pictures of the uniform i work from, that way you get to see it in the used state so to speak, looking good though and following with interest :)

these sites will also help you, I believe Maurice may have used it in the modelling...

Hi tony,

Many thanks for the advice and the links - i have been using ebay as a source of images of the kits items...and having a laugh at what people list as as SAS, SBS, Para, Royal Marine or anything else they think will get a sale...

Given some of the items - even the cadets these days must be special forces ;)

Jimmy - have dropped you a PM.

Have put first coat of paint on face, helmet, shirt, trousers and vest... next step is to redo the face and take it on from there - will post some pics shortly.

a bit more progress... face almost complete...

Looking really nice, here is my one that I did some time ago, it is a really great figure, and even better are the uniform choices, as these boys really like to mix it up.
Keep up the great work, looking forward to seeing the finished item, cheers

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Definately should be coming along to the brisbane expo...with as much readies as can be scraped together...
;)

[QUOTELooking good James, it is coming along, this is my version of it.
Tony this is a great figure but in 200mm, the version that James has done is 120mm, not the same figures, same sculptor though, both brilliant. Congrats to you both

Some further progress - just eyes to finish, lips and seven o'clock shadow to add before finishing of the helmet and chin strap...
