Yep, mine was accelerated by mental health issues. Also helped by having to pay ten percent of my salary to the pension pot so it was actually worth something.

I said the same things Adrian when I retired, but, it's NOT the same when you have all the time in the world to paint. I find any small excuse NOT to do some work, because it's become "The Norm" and NOT the pleasure it used to be. I still paint, but in between household chores. Ray

Good point Ray. I've been retired a while and I too thought how great it would be to devote much more time to hobbies. It didn't take long for me to realise that I had built up my skill and enthusiasm based on limited time slots, and having unlimited time was a definite demotivator. I now do 2, maybe 3 hours max modelling each afternoon with a bit of research occasionally in the evenings. This works much better for me and keeps me keen.

I can definitely relate to that Phil. Retired or not, when it comes to modelling & painting, if you're not feeling "in the zone" it's a waste of time.

@Ray Stout: Sorry to hear that Ray, but glad to hear it's in remission. May it stay that way!

Wise words. It’s probably like eating steak every day...the excitement wears off... :)

I try to keep it as varied as I can. I tend to have a full figure and a bust on the go being painted and a bit of scratchbuilding/ sculpting also on the bench. Sometimes I leave the bench and make a few bases in my workshop. This keeps me interested.

Thanks Steve, I tend to have 3 projects going on, so, if I come to a "Sticky Bit" with one I can still carry on with something else. The only problem with this are large numbers of partly done members of the Grey Army, so every now and then I have a surge of finished figures, which creates another problem of Display!! Still, I wouldn't be without the Hobby, and, I'm STILL learning something from every figure I complete. As soon as you learn how to do something, your eyes let you down. What the Gods give with one hand, they take something else away with the other !! Ray

Had my *** this afternoon. Very efficient conveyor belt process. In and out in less than ten minutes.

However, I didn’t get a sticker and when I asked for a lollipop for being brave, they asked me to leave and pointed out the exit........:D
