Hi Keith,
Sorry that you have decided to leave Planet Figure. I think you should reconsider.
I am not sure what is the big issue posting links to recast eBay listings. I think the main concern here is if the recast listings are posted people will flock to buy the recasts rather than originals. But in reality that's not the case.
"Clubhouse" the garage kit forum has been doing this for years. Members are encouraged to post recast listings and issues under their -- "eBay ID WATCHLIST-block them or proceed with caution". This is just to alert members, sculptors and producers to watch out for all those recast listings and sellers who sell recasts on eBay so that eBay Vero reports can be filed to take down the scum.
It does not matter to post or not to post recast listings, people who decided to buy recasts because of the cheap prices can always find it on eBay and eBay is a haven for recasters.

Sorry, I have seen the debate and feel as many do that it went off track, I also agree that WE/US members should not fall out over this. But.......
Is it too much to ask that you PLEASE do not give direct links to copies, as a manufacturer that is all is asked.

Please look now, as mentioned before, approx 80 community logged on who care and 400 approx that don't.
To me the answers is easy, start a community thread on recast and ONLY members can view, we can meet half way then and within as we all, hopefully know each other.
All this was in good intentions, I love this place and been here since 2003, from a sprog to now knowing how important every sale is, to fund the next.
We don't need to publicise outside, so why not keep it inside for us members, all happy.
Best wishes

Not a bad idea Gra. Lots of forums have sections accessible to members only. Often these are commercial buy/sell areas.

That is an excellent idea Graham! You guys picking hard earned cash in this industry please realize: you're the first ones who want to know where to aim the flak, not the last! After loosing customers - a firm is dead! And if the process is to fax eBay - sunk eBay in faxes! The faster the better.

I would also like to give another idea, that comes from other markets, where I'm involved - Since only you, copyright owners can fill complains - all you, manufacturing people, need to organize yourselves together just like an association you see in other industries. But without investment, since here in figures money is so scarce - Form a Facebook group or similar to decide all together accurate sniping against threats: Believe me - if nothing is done the market will move to a sea flooded of anonymous products, and yours will be gone for good. And the first thing to do is to create a common fax model to send on day one, day two, day three, day four ... One of the advantages of an association is exactly the split of costs to react to common threats. Heck, but if needed make also a fund raise right here on PF to pay a good UK lawyer to write a properly standard threatening fax: All you have to do afterwards is to change claimer and thief names.

Three days ago, Kevin showed at least as far as I remember miniatures from Young, Life, Alpine, Pegaso, Stormtropers, Nuts, MJ, Andrea and some already gone firms like Emi. Tomorrow one is re-casted the day after tomorrow it will be another to suffer. So, allow me to suggest: unite yourselves to act together: your strengtheness against this will multiply incommensurately. :)

In the end, now that dusting is settling, and we're climbing again positive steps, it's just about time to ask Keith to come back: Collateral damage is inadmissible, since all guys here are adults and gentlemen as well.

Keith

What can I say, but I will truly miss your input on PF.
As Jon Page said, at least we'll meet up again in the real world.

All the best

Malc

I totally agree with BT's comments

This is a sad day indeed when one of the most honourable and enthusiastic modellers on this forum, who I have had the pleasure of meeting several times , decides to leave .
Sorry you feel the need to remove yourself from here Keith, hope to catch up with you somewhere in the near future .

That the thread was closed down in my opinion is symptomatic of a current lack of democracy on the forum ........... If honest discussion and the airing of views is not to be a feature of the forum, or threads closed down without reference then I am glad to say that I will no longer be part of it.

Just to be clear to all and without singling out any individual or individuals: Honest discussion and the airing of views are perfectly acceptable and are to be encouraged. No-one on here (as far as I am aware) has ever suggested any different.

I think we'd all agree though that flame wars, the trading of insults, sniping, name-calling, accusations, arguments, threats, trolling or anything else of that ilk are not acceptable, are counter-productive and have no place on this site - regardless of how convinced you are that you are "in the right". THAT is why the thread in question was closed: it had turned into a train wreck, and I had received PM alerts from several members requesting it to be shut down.

The site currently has a very respectable membership of over 6700 people so it's inevitable that differences of opinion are going to arise from time to time. But nevertheless we are a relatively small "niche" hobby who share a common passion. All of us (myself included) can let our emotions get the better of us on occasion, we're only human. But in the interests of the community as a whole (and our own blood pressure), let's all just try and get along and keep it civilised. And if you have an issue with another member, please - keep it between yourselves and don't wash your dirty linin in public. That is what PMs are for.

I suggest that as a group we all now try and put the unpleasantness of the past weekend behind us and forge ahead together as friends and in a positive frame of mind. And like many here I would be more than happy to see Keith return.

I'm going to post the essentials of this as a "sticky" for the benefit of new members and anyone who may have missed it here.

Come back Keith.Don't cut off your nose to spite your face mate.

Seconded !!

I’ve only been a member of PF for two months. However, prior to that I followed the forum for a number of years and thoroughly enjoyed the informative posts and general verbal jousting emanating from various members, one of whom was Keith. The overall atmosphere was very pleasant and that’s precisely why I finally took the plunge and joined.

Keith,
If you’re looking in, please follow Brian’s request. The forum is not the same without you.

Hopefully,
Andrew

Hi Keith,
