Hello guys, very satisfying place photos from the last commission. I must say it was very challenging, also because of considerable size, but Roman is very charming.
I advise everyone to paint a bust of Nuts, have an excellent sculpture that will make you spend pleasant hours of painting.

Thanks Joe, actually I think this is one of the most beautiful busts out recently. It 'a lot of pathos, which must try to also return to painting.
I wanted to represent a proud soldier and not won.

Hi Enrico I am working on this one at the moment and have spent a lot of time preparing it due to the poor fit of parts and missing sections such as half a button and a missing loops on the cape etc, I am finding it tricky trying to plan out how to go about painting the face, attaching it to the hood then attaching this onto the torso and then continuing with the painting, I have been looking at the results other planeteers have got with this bust and everyone has done a great job with him so thanks for giving me another one to use as a reference.
Cheers
TERRY

Hello Terry, actually planning of this piece has not been easy for me, either.
I replaced the mantle closing cords with the plumb line, because they were badly damaged in the fusion.
For the assembly I before painting the face fixed to the bust, then in a second moment I gave the black primer inside the hood to have a dark base to work at a later time. I painted the helmet and then set the cap on the bust, going to apply the protections of the cheeks that I had previously painted.
I also had to fill some gaps between the hood and shoulders, as well as for the eagle position, which did not fit perfectly, but I filled the space with a bit of Magic Sculpt.

Enrico thanks for that tip I was considering doing it this way but I keep backing out and thinking of gluing the painted head to the painted helmet and hood section then gluing that onto the painted neck scarf, completing the rest of the painting and finally gluing the painted cheek guards into place, I will need to just get on with it but I have it all fitting so neatly that there is no allowance for error and that's why I am holding off lol, However your post of this bust has helped give me that wee push to get it finished, its a great bust.
TERRY
