Publisher Comments:
The first in a new series, The Art of Painting Miniatures: Faces and Figures provides a fresh look at the art of figure painting. The content is this book is a result of 30 years hands-on experience, critical observation, experimentation and enhancement of what works. The step-by-step painting process will elevate your level of figure painting from a poorly painted face to a realistic one. The goal is to give the figure, in particular the head and face, serious and artistic treatment, emphasizing skin tones, character development and realism. This book is dedicated to the beginner as well as the experienced modelers, who feel a need to tell a story using figures in their vignettes and dioramas; to the textile painters who paint uniforms, banners, flags and other accessories with great detail and but need the concept and techniques to improve their face and figure work; to the advance modeler who understands his level of expertise and depends on another at his level to paint the figures for his dioramas; for the experienced modelers who want to elevate the level of their figures, and learn how to critically look and improve their face and figure work; and lastly, for the masters, these concepts will deepen and drive their techniques to a more profound level of realism.

It will have a concepts section, how-to sections and a gallery section, among other topics!!

Alex, I know you mentioned this before but I can't remember where it was. Where or how can we get signed copies?

;) Looking forward to it

Jim

 silly me, I found it on your site. Thanks.

Hi Jim,
I’m thinking maybe we can centralize the orders; it would cut down on the shipping cost,
Probably save me a lot of individual runs to my local post office, let me talk it over with Gordy, and see what he thinks.
Thanks,
Alex

Hi Lou,
It sounds like a good Idea, except that I am not sure when I will have the book in my hands, and if it will be in time for the dates of the show?
So far my publisher has mentioned dates from May1, to May 28, which is past the MFCA Show dead line!
Lou, by –the-way do you know Grand Master Phil Bracco, former president of the NJHMA, he was asking me about the dates for the show (MFCA) at Valley Forge,
And thanks for your compliments, they are appreciated!
Let me know what your thoughts are,
Alex

Show up anyway for the "meet the artist" feature at MFCA. Talk about a great way to preview what's in your book. Seriously!

Yes I know Phil. I haven't seen him in years, but he was one of my early inspirations. Last time he and I talked he was doing dinosaurs mainly. Is he coming? Do you have his e-mail?

Show dates are April 30- May 1st.

Lou,
He still is an inspiration to many of us, I just e-mailed him,
I wanted to get his permission first, before I gave out his e-mail,
I also gave him the dates of the show; he had expressed interest in attending the show?
And asked if I knew Dennis Levy? Art Etch ells? Vern Minkiwitz? These guys were involved with the PA group (MFCA)

As soon as I get his permission I will pass it on via- e-mail, to you!
Alex

Hi Pete,
I hoping my publisher comes thru in time,
I think you’re right,
I would personally enjoy meeting every one!
Alex

Dennis is a very good friend of mine as is Vern. Art I know though not very well. Dennis still runs the show and Vern is the show's workhorse.I understand you asking Phil's permission although I knew him pretty well. So you don't know him that well?
I don't know if Phil expressed interest although I used to see him there every year-even when MFCA was down to low attendance. In recent years, the show has taken off with many Europeans in attendance and is seconded to Chicago only in size probably.
You've never been?
