Hi Nap,

Base for the hair is 50/50 Chocolate Brown 874 + Burnt Red 914 (all Vallejo Model Colour).
Highlights by adding Orange Brown 981, then 981+ Beige Red 804, then that plus a bit of white for a few extreme highlights. When this became to greyish, I added a thin glaze of 963 to bring back life. Probably better to replace white with a light sand colour.
some selected washes in the midtone areas with very thin 914, to give a reddish sheen.
Shades…no painted shades yet, maybe I’ll do some base+black in a few spots around the back of the neck.

Thanks again guys. Great info. For the figure painter all this variation and fading colour is a blessing…can hardly go wrong it seems!

made some progress on the head: tinkered with some of the highlights and shades, finished the eyes and did the hair. I opted for red hair. Nice contrast to the blueish coat.
Just noted I forgot the eyebrows…

Oops, just noted I mentioned a wrong paint number in my colour mixes for the red hair above…now corrected! Orange Brown 963 should be 983.

Short update on this one: Managed to paint the coat over the weekend.
Waistband and buttons still in basecoat. Next step is the overcoat.
