100% acrylic freehand painting. Non metallic paint for metallic parts. Amazing figure sculptures from Joaquin Palacios (thank you Carlos Vazquez from Blacksun Miniatures for providing me with an additional right hand for the rider). Banner was scratch built from copper sheet and steel rod and wire. Terrain base was all scratch built as well and every branch / shrub trunks were made with Apoxie Sculpt epoxy putty. Did also the oval wood plinth. Reverse of the banner is after a painting from Frank Frazetta and is my tribute to him (measure around 5 x 5 cms). There are many ways to interpret this scene but my goal was to display the figures as well as possible. In order to do that, the saber tooth cat was raised from the level of the wood plinth as much as possible. The old barbarian is looking in the same direction as the rider while the female is attracted by the same thing as the tiger. Since I first saw the conanesque / he-manesque rider sculpture I knew I had to replace the original sword with a flag or a banner in order to add height to the scene. A pleasure to paint !
