Noticed ..The Bavarian Army during the thirty years War...Lawrence spring..hellion press..their catalogue is huge and probably most tiltles vanity Russ items..but some might be good. The 30 years War series covers ECW and captured under group of Century of the Soldier. I guess the reference is to emergence of professional soildiers with firearms and military order vs rabble’s bashing into one another

I saw that as a reference in a Keegan book..will do same..not sure if I can make it work, but Kobo has a match price deal where I might be able to get the Muir book for less outrageous price.

More books than I will ever read, mainly uniform details. This is only about half of the library-the problem I find is knowing what you have especially as I have a terrible memory. I started creating an index of everything but it was an impossible task.

I have the reverse..brain filled with trash and trivia..can still remember my Caesar from near 60 years ago..of course my Latin was so bad I figured memorizing was good option...

I'll give the Hornfischer book a look Joe, just bought 1/48 Hellcat and a Corsair so good background reading. (y)
If you read Neptune's Inferno you'll want a Wildcat, an early 'birdcage' Corsair, and then probably the cruiser San Francisco and destroyer Laffey. The Laffey was pummeled ugly when it engaged the battleship Hiei at point blank range. It was Friday the 13th, November 1942, poor squids.

After “With the Old Breed” ....Sledges book..there is no glory...

Can highly recommend Europe’s Tragedy:a new history of the thirty years War..Peter Collins. Proper history and analysis...makes the he faught, she faught stuff simplistic by giving context, analysis and insight..

What a nice looking collection all neat and tidy in some cool looking book cases. It appears as though they have glass doors. Who makes them?

To change the subject a bit, what are those narrow black objects on either side of the room? Speakers perhaps?

Joe

B&O speakers Joe-the previous owner left them in the house when we bought it, the CD player is wall mounted so it would have left some marks if he tried to remove it. The bookcases are Ikea Billy range...cheap and effective.
