Hello All,

Here is a pic of a couple of 1/48 figures i showed at the SCAHMS show in March. They are portrait figures Manfred von Richthofen, the Red Baron and his brother Lothar.

The figures will also come with optional heads wearing hats which are not yet available for photos. The figures will be available in the near future from The Model Cellar. Oddly enough, just this past month, Eduard advertised that a special edition of their new 1/48 scale Fokker Triplane kit will also come with figures of the two brothers. Theirs include a grossly oversized figure of Manfred's dog Moritz.

Anyway, thanks for looking!

Mike

I would love to see these in 1/32 as well to go with the Roden Tripe kit

Nice!

The Brothers von Richtofen

Great stuff as ever Mike.
It would be great if these appeared in 1/32 as well. If not, then I'll just have to increase the magnification on my magnifier & go for it!
I'll watch Model Cellar's site.

I also liked the Billy Bishop figure you also displayed - will this be appearing via Model Cellar as well?

Regards,

Steve

Once again, stunning stuff Mike!

Just look at the straining folds caused by the weight of the hands in the pockets. And the texture of the leather. Masterful.

Did you use Premo for these figures as well? Or do you reserve it for the larger scales?

Cheers,
Quang

Thanks Everybody!

Quang, I do not sculpt my figures in Sculpey Premo. I only do the heads in that material. I sculpt the majority of them in Aves Apoxie Sculpt white with selected details done in Kneadatite (Duro). I recently tried out Procreate which many sculptors have been raving about. I did not find it to be any improvement over the Kneadatite, although I really like it for doing ears!

Go figure!

Jon, these figures were not depicted from any particular photos so they are my own interpretations. Although I did try to depict their particular clothing from photos, especially Manfred's rather tatty and supple leather coat. Steve, yes the Bishop figure (in 1/32 or 54mm) will be a future release from The Model Cellar. Matt, you had to squint a little bit because they are kinda dinky.......

Cheers!!

Mike

Nice one Mike...in this scale, the great thing is they are instantly recognisable..

Mike you surely must have bought one of those 'family packs' of Aves to get such a close relationship between these guys..

Kindest regards...Roy.

Amazing stuff Mike; like with all your other 1/48 pieces hard to believe looking at photos that they're as small as they are. What you can do at that scale many people only aspire to at twice and three times that size!
