Just finished this 54mm figure and as usual i've seen a couple of wee things needed done.Bloody hate digital cameras!!!!
Might start a bust next as the eyes can't handle too many of these wee fellows.

As ever lovely stuff Brian, brilliant wary expression. Is the detail on the shield raised? You certainly don't want to be handling too many wee men at the same time ;)
Cheers

Excellent job Brian, I like your muted style which suites the older periods better I think.
This figure reminds me of the film `The eagle` where at the end some old survivors of the 9th Legion come out and reform as legionaries after living as locals for many years bringing along their old armour and shields but sporting beards and long hair.
Who produces the kit ?

Cheers

Steve
Thanks for the comment Steve. The figure is a new release by Nocturna/Historic Art entitled Lancelot but can't be bought in the U.K. for what reason God knows.Got it from Best Soldiers .

Fantastic work. I agree with your assessment of the "artsy" figures. I prefer the more, "natural" look for these types of subjects. (not that I wouldn't mind being able to paint something in the artsy style ;))

Yes,the detail is raised on the shield Derek.

Thanks lads for your comments, much appreciated.I've always painted in muted tones it's just the style i prefer. It seems that the arty loud painted figures are the main style nowadays which are beautiful to look at but not too realistic IMHO.

I'm with you on the muted tones Brian!! definitely the master of the shades(y) 54mm I can't get below 75mm these days
got a metal models mounted in the grey army and terrified to give it a go.

No Doubt I will see this one in the flesh soon, great piece Brian.

Great work Brian. Love the muted tones and especially the Roman shield. This is my favourite period of history and you have captured the look well.

Brian, as always, you don't disappoint. I've always looked to your work for inspiration for my own. This is a terrific piece with superb colours...(n)
I think it's wonderful that those of us with eyesight issues on smaller figures still keep trying...for me, the 70mm work, but it's tougher on the budget!
