Hi friends. Following the very interesting period started by Marquismini, about the American Revolution, I want to show some of my figures of the end of the XVIII century. All of them are Labayen Miniatures,(54mm) I painted all in acrylics. Hope you like them.

Infantry grenadiers. Lorraine, Royal Baviere, drummers of Royal Deux Ponts and Angoumois.

Infantry fusiliers and drummers. Armagnac, Dillon, Penthievre, Conti, Lamarck.

Very nice pics Eduardo,i really like your painting style.(y)(y)(y)
I still have the 2 Labayen figures Antonio sent me,i will probably paint them some time soon.

Nice!,i've seen those color schemes on the Lauzun's legion.
On the Garde-cotes they refer to "sea green" and i think you've nailed on the color (y)

Very good work Eduardo, you and Daniel are definitely cut from the same pearl-grey cloth.
Nice to see some attention paid to great era for uniforms.

Colin

Thanks Colin,I still have a long road ahead to learn and perfect my painting technique.
I like Eduardo's high contrast between lights and shadows, that is my preference and a matter of personal taste.
It's a shame that there is not enough attention and interest in that particular period on the miniature industry, either 7 years war or napoleonics, very little in between.
What are you working on next Colin?

Hi Daniel. Answering your question. I paint the tricorn hats of the fusiliers, for example, in this way:

I mix black base with a little dark brown, when dry, I paint the lights and the gradient of wear adding to the first mixture a little ocher and white, gradually clarifying and applying the tones to the hat areas, theoretically more susceptible to wear and dirt.

The black is a color that supports any mix for the lights and create gradients, so you can play yourself with this possibility.

If the upper rim of the hat is black satin or silk something shiny, I add a bit of blue to the black to get a shade colder.

I always use primary colors to all the range, that is, white, black, medium blue, lemon yellow, vermilion red, medium green, ocher and dark brown.
I hope is helpful.

You are right about that, unless they are 28mm wargame figures. I actually have a small French "army" in 28mm from the French-Indian Wars in North America as well as their British opposite. There are some of the regiments you've mentioned in this group, only a few years older:rolleyes:. I really need to get some pics of these out.

As for right now I'm trying to finish that Waterloo diorama we discussed earlier. The KGL light dragoon has really been kicking my butt. Should be done today or tomorrow.

Cheers

I am sure you will be happy and pleased when you finish your diorama, sometimes the hardest figures to paint and scenarios to recreate brings a lot of joy and ypu feel proud when it's done.
best regards

Wow, Eduardo, ausgezeichnet, really excellent! I love the style in which you painted these. Our Revolutionary War is one of my favorite periods, and I like Labayen's figures, so I'm really enjoying seeing your collection.

Are his figures still available commercially? I've picked up some of his Seven Years War Prussians from Berliner Zinnfiguren, but I'd like to get more.

Prosit!
Brad

Hi Brad. I know you like Frederick the Great´s army. So here i show you some prussians of Labayen. Hope you like them.
