I don't know about everyone else, but for me the great work in sculpting, figures and painting just keeps coming every day on this forum. The standard of modelling and painting in the hobby has improved incredibly since I was first interested in the 1970's, when a few like Ray Lamb, and Shep Paine were the outstanding painters, Now we see outstanding work every day on this forum from a great many members What a joy it is to see so many talented people posting such quality work.

I have only dabbled in the hobby until last year, when inspired by the magnificent work that members have posted I have taken up the brush again. Not good enough to post on the Forum I might add, but thanks to everyone for getting me getting back into the hobby, and keep those beautiful pieces of work coming. You will be an inspiration to younger people with an artistic bent to take up the hobby.

Well said Chris. I think we are often over pessimistic regarding the future of the hobby. I only discovered it at the age of 37 and probably at a time in my life when I could afford to indulge myself without any impact on the family. I'm pretty sure it will always have an appeal to those like myself with an artistic bent but not the real talent to compete in competitions.
Maybe the plethora of available figures these days has caused a few manufacturers to struggle giving rise to the pessimism.
