Here he is, finished and mounted on the base.
A superb sculpt by Ju-Won Jung. Painted with Acrylics, mainly Vallejo and Citadel. The base was made by Richard at Oakwood Studios to my requests.

Terrific rendition, very well done indeed. I noticed how the gnarliness on the base beautifully mimics the swirly texture and skulls behind the figure, though the polished top surface and bright brass rod rather a stark contrast which seems to distract from the subject.

Thanks Max.
I see what you're saying about the base. I choose a rough bark finish for that reason, and I just like the look of the wood grain. The kit comes with both a brass and clear plastic rod, but out of the two, I think the clear plastic looks a bit to artificial.. but I do think that a darker base would suit it very much too.

Henk, yes, the polished top and brass rod creates a visual disconnect between the gnarly wood and the subject, and almost literally outshines your fabulous paintwork on the figure and horse... I'd be inclined to paint the rod black and give the wood top a dark stain finish to tone down the gloss.

Hi Henk

Well done to you a great result and very clever painting on both horse and rider , good colour choices as well

I see where Max is coming from ref base but it is a lovely piece of wood especially the gnarly edges
