Greetings Planeteers,

My latest one finished, Avanpost's excellent 75mm Foot Dragoon in the colours of the 10e Regiment of French Dragoons, demoted to the 2nd regiment of foot dragoons.
Lovely figure to paint except for the eternal problem of really straightening rifle and bayonet, despite the hot water treatment.

And now on to some serious stuff!

Thanks for looking,

Pierre

Once again, thanks for the positive reactions and comments, fellows.

Avanpost figures are a joy to assemble and paint, but rather limited in scope.

I see Nikita Ableev is now venturing in 75mm samurai for Medieval Forge, with a first figure of Imagawa Yoshimoto, as yet unreviewed here and a second one just shown on social media:

Looks rather tempting to me at first sight.

But are we allowed to dream of decent figures/bust of the Satsuma Rebellion / Bōshin War, of those stalwart men and women of the Aizu-clan, of leaders like Saigō Takamori, Sakamoto Ryōma or Hijikata Toshizō? And I don't mean the Hollywoodean distortions in "last samurai style".

And what if Myochin would put his talent to a bust of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, so blatantly absent in a collection?
One can't but hope and dream,

Pierre

In your capable hands Pierre they will blossom in beautiful works, hopefully the range will expand in your hoped for direction. I have the Musashi books in my collection which are always worth a read every ten years or so.

Cheers Simon

Hi there Pierre

A very nice version of a very popular figure it seems , liking the green you’ve done , looks like you’ve done well on the weapon

Looking forward to seeing what’s next.....why not do a V bench on them

There’s also the competitions to support see link below

Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the comments, guys and gals!

Simon, if you like Eiji Yoshikawa's Musashi, you might like his historic novel 'Taiko' too, 900 pages of the life of Toyotomi Hideyoshi.

Cheers,
Pierre

Might be worth looking up, but I have to be cautious, reading good books often leads to wholesale changes in my modelling tastes. For example R F Delderfields "Seven men of Gascony" will have me painting Napoleonics, I read some modern Sci Fi a few years ago and started making my own spaceships!!

Cheers Simon
