The Janissary is finally finished,still needs some extreme highlights and shadows,
and a bit more weathering.

Very nice figure and painting. I like extreme shadows.
One suggestion. I do not know or you will apprehend my english.
Arch rope. It take old nyllon hose and It take out one Thread.
It will be firm.

You did an extremely beautifull job. I am glad that i good follow the painting off this masterpiece.
I can't tell you of your's or that from Guy is the best. I hope a jury of great painters will do that.
For now i find them both exclusive painted.

Looks very good! I like the the weathering on the bottom of the pants and the back of the shirt (vest ?). I dont know anything about janissaries. But I do like to look at well painted figures. Nice Job!

good job on the figure! But on this figure his bow is too short and not at all Turkish-like, this guy belonged to infantry - as we all know it the Janissaries were the elite, crack infantry. He must belong to the 15th century corp, for by the end of the 15th century all janissary units addopted firearms, perhaps just only thier officers retained the bows and quivers as a sign of rank. If it is his war(albeit infantr), weapon, then this bow should have been at least 44 1/2 to 48- 49 inches long or longer when strung, and absolutely decorated. In this scale the bow appears too short. Look at http://www.atarn.org/islamic/akarpowicz/turkish_bows.htm. also, the way this bow is constructed seem to be wrong - in short, this is not the TUrkich bow that might have been carried by the janissary corp. And since he seems to be notching the arrow does he carry a thumb-ring? could not see... lots of pictures of reconstructed bows at http://www.grozerarchery.com/htm/torok/torok.htm

Hello Pawel, thanks for the kind words,much appreciated.

I believe you are referring to the bow string,correct me if I'm wrong.
For the bow string I used piano wire,but I must make it a bit tighter.
